Well that’s debatable imo.

my Grandma bought a new one cash thanks to flowers she would pick up and sell at the market.

Maintenance costs were little, gas was cheap, insurance didn’t exist, value didn’t collapse 30% the moment you drive out, and it could help you create value by moving faster than with a donkey.

oh and money didn’t depreciate back then 😅

Ok, I agree in part.

However, it’s been a long while since this was possible and it is now clear that the car, for the majority of people, is a consumer good!
