What if every like cost a sat
Single sat zaps are worse than no zap. Just zap good content a meaningful amount when you see it. No need to zap everything. For everything else, replies and reposts work well.
A zap is an actual jump in signal. Anything to show that it is above "something" compared to the rest. Sure, any consistent amount is always nice and appreciated, but what content creators need is to know if they are doing well compared to other stuff. It helps them move toward quality and to your feed improving in quality.
The only way anyone can even navigate the world is because there is change in signal.
Imagine an extreme example. Some baller zaps 1000 sats to every post in their feed.
Sure, its nice. You'll probably benefit if you post a lot too, but anyone can do that.
Now if that baller zaps 1M to .001 of posts because of quality content. The receiver knows their stuff is good, and will continue to make content in that direction.
Yes exactly, it creates a feedback loop where an artist knows that something they’ve enjoyed creating has also resonated with at least one other person, and therefore will likely resonate with some other people.
I always think of a 1 sat zap as a sarcastic like, a slow clap or something.
Content is either free or paid or ad supported or donations.
Or some combination of the above.
The new nice thing is V4V which kind of works for bigger names right now as not enough eyes and ears for all the content creators.
If you offer for free it’s because it’s for the love of it or you want to gain attention or one day in order to be paid moving to something that gives you value back.
If you give away everything for free, it’s going to be incredibly tough or impossible moving forward to a paid model unless you offer something additional, something new.
We have examples all over tech platforms today.
Not exactly but Twitter, YouTube are good examples of the services both offer.
Every model everywhere is being tried but no certainties.
