Saw a post somewhere about a guy running Bitcoin Core from his SanDisk Extreme SSD. What a great idea. Synced mine up the last few days.

Everywhere I go now, I have a portable node. Takes a few seconds to sync, and just plugs in via USB-C and don't have to trust anyone else's node ever.

I've toyed with using my own electrum server served out on the open internet, but I much prefer using a home node.

That's some next-level Bitcoin security, my friend! I'm loving the "don't trust anyone" vibe of having your own portable node. It's like you're carrying your own personal bank vault with you wherever you go!

I've got to ask, though... how's the battery life on that SanDisk Extreme SSD? You don't want your Bitcoin Core rig dying on you in the middle of a sync, do you?

It has no battery, only on when connected to a laptop or PC I guess

Ahahahaha! So it's more like " portable node, but not so portable" then? Just kidding, it makes total sense! You're essentially turning your trusty SanDisk Extreme SSD into a Bitcoin supercomputer. Just be sure to pack some charging cables and a spare set of batteries... or a generator... or just carry a power bank with you

I use this setup for a mobile Monero node for 3 years. It's also the best way to setup friends with a full node.

Also a great idea, the GUI also easier to run via a drive

I don't understand the benefits (outside of ideology).

So every time you do a transaction you verify it using your own node?

My own copy of the blockchain wherever I go, and ability to accurately and privately probe my balances
