But it's not inherent to religion in my understanding.

Government is based on social contract theory which is all bogus and is bogus for the very reason it is involuntary.

Religion has a very long history of emotional abuse and coercion with the intent to retain a authority or control system which is always benificial to the underlying establisment.

Choosing what to believe based on research and personal conviction I believe is healthy and good, especially when information is available and accessible.
