I have no love (an euphemism) for socialists and/or any politicians grabbing power.

And I have no illusions about any of the parties involved here.

Also this is me just asking some basic question, not trying to pick a fight or anything.

What is actually wrong about Catallunya and Pais Vasco peacefully separating from Spain if they want? An illegal referendum? Yep, the state can make a lot of things illegal.

Yes terrorism and terrorists killing people is not the way to go, no buts. No deals.

What is the sentiment towards the secession of these territories among the regular people in Spain these days? Does the majority want to force "unity" or they are getting more indifferent?

I'm sure politicians want a big state and a big country (the incentives are clear), but an "average" pleb from Segovia or Cadiz, why they would care really or what right they have to force people many kilometers away to (not to) do anything?

And of course, not all Catallans want to leave.

Good points. I'm no expert, just sharing the post, but agree that regional independence seems a very reasonable thing and perhaps its time is coming. Is this a battle between Spanish nationalism vs mock WEF controlled federalism?
