I'm very pessimistic about the future of this civilization, because most people don't even notice the fundamental problem from which all other problems stem—their misunderstanding of the nature of the empirical reality of phenomenal consciousness. False metaphysics gives rise to false values and goals. We won't change our insane world without changing the metaphysical basis of our insane worldview.
