It's partly a people thing, and partly an algo thing, I reckon. Also, the current lack of quote tweet here helps, IMO: on Twitter, half the quote tweets are effectively saying "Look at this idiot! Dog pile them now!" In contrast, a simple boost still invites one to form one's own opinion.
