I see a lot of people talking about Nostr's lack of algorithms, but they will be coming soon.

For example, I think it would be interesting if a client allowed to sort by posts with the most sats zapped in the last day. I think this could be interesting, but maybe you hate this idea. Good! There is no limit to the amount of different clients that can exist.

The beauty of Nostr is that it allows for clients to do whatever they want, you can hop around and experiment with different algos or implementations, all while still keeping your same followers/follows on whichever one you choose. This is what makes this so much more beautiful that centralized social media, it allows for a free market competition of clients, but rather than being tied to the implementation of a centralized party, we can all, with no cost whatsoever, switch to the client we most prefer.

With traditional social media's centralized control, many of us (myself included) have come to hate these algorithms, but now, for the first time ever, we'll be able to switch to the algorithm we most prefer by switching to a new client. I don't think most people grasp just how powerful this is, it essentially fixes the core issue with all centralized social media over the last 15 years.

I love this space now, but there is so much untapped potential yet to be explored here. Presently, I'm just so grateful to be here with all of you watching it happen 💜

I appreciate you sharing, but I think you are making one of the common mistakes people make when predicting the future: mapping the framework of the old centralized system onto the new system.

Here is a note I wrote describing the short/mid term incentives around algorithms on Nostr.

I belive its important to examine incentives each small step of the way, rather than jump all the way to the future.
