Sparrow in its latest version will verify your files with drag and drop.

Download a file then download the check file for it a .asc file etc

Go to sparrow, under tools drop down choose verify download. Drag all relavent downloaded files to this window and sparrow does the stuff.

I have used it twice already

When you say checks the file, are you talking about the signature and hash totals?

I plan to download it on my Ubuntu machine and learn all about it. But I need to have the time to verify the file and all that other security stuff before I install it. Trust but verify it critical, but since I don’t download and install files a lot, I have trouble remembering how to do it. Probably why so many people get hacked because they get in a hurry and don’t do it.

Yes I’m talking about verification of the download to ensure it’s the real deal. It’s very easy now with this tool
