If the shape of the head is triangular its a copperhead

The coloring looks wrong for a copper tho

Some buddies agreed.

Head looks venomous, color looks non-poisonous.

Can you check the serial number?

Something something niner?

Baby copperheads have a distinctive yellow tail tip.

They also have the β€œhersheys kiss” spots even as babies. This is more of a checkerboard.

What area do you live in?

Southeast USA

This is likely a DeKay's brown snake. And it's also likely a full grown adult. The adults aren't usually more than about a foot long.

Awesome 🀩 Internet pics look just like it!

I get them in my yard. I try to save them before the chickens slurp em up like noodles. They're cute, nonvenomous, and eat buggies so I like em.

I was also pretty positive this wasn't a copperhead because he wasn't trying to show us Hershey's kisses.

That's what I thought too...I was like 80% sure it was not a copperhead. Thanks!

Thanks! The snake lived!

Hooray! He's a cutie. They're pretty docile if you wanna handle em. But wash your hands after because that musk...ooooweee, yuck.
