The fact that nostr:npub18m76awca3y37hkvuneavuw6pjj4525fw90necxmadrvjg0sdy6qsngq955 is so popular on Nostr shows that quite many Nostr users rely on Apple devices.
Apple, obviously, doesn't stand for the freedom of users.
A wholly free system is hard to use, true, but even Windows give users a lot more freedom than Apple does.
Damus has rules on what content can be allowed. Why is that so? Because Apple requires it. Because Apple wants to control what users do and see.
This is why even Minds (https://www.minds.com/), which, while no longer censorship-resistant trough Nostr, still has very permissive policies, doesn't allow NSFW content on the iOS app: it can't, due to the terms of service of the iOS App Store.
What is the point of using Nostr trough an Apple system? You would have more freedom using Windows and interacting with a proprietary and centralized, but permissive, platform.

To fight censorship we must understand the attack points:
1) The app itself
2) The app stores it's distributed on
3) The ISP it's accessed over
Each problem needs solving
1) App: Solved via Nostr
2) Stores: Solved via APK distribution on Android
3) ISP: Solved via decentralized internet. Hardware. This is huge and its importance can't be stressed enough.
