if you use 1 sat/vB it could take month!

the mempool hasnt cleared fully the past weeks.

and consider a RBF transaction.

Getting transaction purged is theoretical possible,

but mempool size would have to grow to 500mB or something.

Thanks, that’s usefull information.

I am curious. I might try it with a small amount. I like to experience such things to get a better feeling for it.

If it gets purged it goes back to sender, right?

If it get's purged the transaction didnt happen at all. Problem is that every node got its own mempool. So a miner could just store all transactions and never purge them. But your node could have purged it. Its tricky to explain.

Maybe not forever.

The best practice is to do a RBF replace by fee transaction so you can increase the fee if you want to...
