While listening to this episode of #[0] , i was daydreaming about an open education network on #Nostr for kids who choose not to go to school that is running on fiat-mindsets.

For kids who will live through this paradigm shift and the new Industrial Revolution with #AI and #Bitcoin (hopefully!), i think better education alternatives are much needed, especially for kids in middle school ages who can utilize online learning options if available!

I wonder if there are any parents having similar thoughts/ideas.

I am! And so is #[3] and #[4] #[5] #[6] . I’ve been trying to put a nostrkid client together for #homeschool and #worldschool but I have limited abilities.

I believe protocols like #nostr could make quality and relevant education available to all ages; and safely.

The future is looking bright for anti-institutional education!

We need to pick a slot for a nest and talk education. Decentralized education has been my obsession ever since discovering web3. Now with Nostr… the possibilities are even better. I’m on UTC +2, weekly can do after 19:00 UTC Tuesday to Friday (Monday is for the French Nostr). Fortnightly, I have more room to adapt and can play outside those slots.

I’m fairly flexible on days. After 19:00 works for me:)

I'm flexible on days but I'm on UTC +7 (Asia) so 19UTC is my 2am 😆

Ordinarily I'd get up for it, but since my baby doesn't sleep much I probably won't. If you can push to 23utc I'll wake up early for you (but then I think this will be a terrible time for #[7] ) 🙃🙏🏼

I can join on your Fri, Sat, Sun. I’m on pacific time. 23 utc is 4pm here.

Alternating 2 slots? One week US/ASIA slot, following week EUR/US

We could do 3, one hosted from America, one from Asia/Oceania and one from Europe/Africa. What does everyone think?

I like it… it’s for the kids! Europe/Africa slot I am happy to help out with co-hosting and admin 💜

Easy, if we do two time slots, I'd propose running Asia at 0 or 1 UTC as that would hopefully still work and would be my 7/8am. This works for my friends and families in Australia and New Zealand too 😊

I think Saturday or Sunday would work best for my people as Friday a lot would still be at work. Woohoo to finally getting this rolling 🤩🥳🙌

Saturday 0 or 1 UTC would make it a Friday night for Europe, making it possible for the insomniacs. 🤣

#[4] did you have 3-4pm UTC in mind for the Europe/America session? How does that sound for everyone else?

Hey #[7] which ever evening time you pick #[8] and I Are good.

I am thinking we might have to share the hosting to accommodate. And have two or

More time slots for instance, if you can make at least one, great, at least attend the one that suits you best.. just to get some transaction. We have a large group too so it might work splitting up… maybe recording the sessions…

Happy to hear from others.

Yes. More time slots would be essential. We have plebs interested in joining from Asia, Europe and US. Impossible to find a one fits all slot.

2 time slots, rotate weekly from one to next? Friday seems to be a good day for some. I can co-host one of them.

It’s wonderful 💜 thanks for connecting me with like-minded parents 😄

I feel institutional education hasn’t been unable to catch up with the fast-paced technological changes kids are exposed everyday now. After 2020, it’s more obvious. They can learn a lot from youtube, ChatGPT and other online sources, but they need guidance to know what’s true and what’s mis/disinformation, that’s even tricky for us to see these day. I would love to see innovative educators coming to #Nostr more!

I wonder if this topic can be discussed at #Nostrasia 💜 #[10] #[11] #[12]

My kid #[11] is doing a lot of online self directed learning right now, including chatgpt and other forms of AI.

ohh yes 🙌 We #worldschool and #unschool with our four children 😍

This could be a topic I can talk about at #nostrasia. We currently live in Vietnam and of course my entire family wants to come to Tokyo in November. I've just got to figure out how to make it happen 😆🤞

I’m going to attend #nostrasia in Tokyo!!

See you there 🤩🤞✨✈️

I plan to have kids with my partner in the next couple years and I genuinely do not believe they will attend high school in the same way kids do today.

They really don't need it. 1 hour or less per day is fine. Kids can learn soo much more, better, more effectively by being with their parents or siblings to learn. My 6yo was mostly taught by his older sister and brother and he's mega smart. He also sleeps a lot 😂 Home education creates a love of learning. And kids who love to learn will have more opportunities than those who don't 💯 🙌

I’ve definitely been wondering whether the education system is able to properly prepare my kid for the future. I’m worried the system won’t adapt to a fast changing world.

The system was created in a time where information was difficult to access. Now we have more information than ever before. It's easily accessible and as long as parents feel empowered to raise their children, there's an opportunity to shift the thinking. Teaching isn't important. Self led learning is very important. As a parent who is not a teacher, my job is to provide learning experiences for my children. They choose what they learn and take it upon themselves to learn. My six year old needs a little reminder to do his daily coding but he enjoys it. We always recommend 1 hour or less per day. It's worked amazing for us and this is a big reason why I know for sure schools fail most of the children attending them 🙌🙏🏼
