Uncapping a few frames this morning to spin out some honey for a batch serrano pepper mead I have planned.
All this wax gets boiled out and shaped into a block for use later.

Spinning the frames out leaves the comb intact and saves the bees time and energy next season.

I love mead! Never had a spicy one though. Do you cover your hives in the winter?
We do. We make our last frame pulls in August. In late December we tarp them. Can run up to 75° until then.
