The US government via USAID/Internews put 25 media outlets in New Zealand into a dependent position including Stuff, NZME, Business Desk, Newshub and 1News. New Zealand is the only Five Eyes country that doesn't permit US nuclear ships in its ports.

I can attest to the fact that NZ News was captured by interests that lie outside of NZ (probably US) long before 2023 (when USAID allegedly did this). And the last Labour government put incentives in place to keep them captured.

I feel like the smarter people that set up the grifts in a time with no digital papertrail are long gone, so i wouldnt be too surprised if the mediocres that took it into the digital age aren't even aware how much of this shit is documented.
