sometimes I don’t know if what I’m scraping off of cast iron is old oxidized metal or dried food

ohhh i see yea i was curious cuz i restored a rusty cast iron pan i had lying around and cooked some fire pita bread on it today. cleaned it with vinegar salt and baking soda and it looks ok. is oxidized metal toxic or what?

it probably isn’t toxic, and I bet you can safely restore it anyway. I just look at a clean spotless shiny stainless steel pan in comparison and think, “this looks so much cleaner to eat off of”
