I was just starting to wonder if this spam is being done as an attempt to constructively impact nostr development.

Implementing a zap-for-permission-to-comment threshold would be the most obvious solution.

I’m not saying it’s good or particularly helpful, just that there may be motives beyond abusing the system for the sake of being annoying

In either case it’s a problem that exists, so someone will take advantage of it

Yeah it’s pretty bad

I know I can toggle my notifications to only people I follow, but I don’t want to do that, since I know I don’t follow enough people yet

Maybe you can narrow it down via filters in your universe feed? I’m not seeing it on the damus relay.

I’m not seeing it in Universe at all; it seems like a set of bots that reply to a few npubs for a while and then move on to new people

I'm on #Nostr since about 3 weeks now. And I see these spam when I post on public or private and replies. Mute them but another comes out. They all have this same profile information. Really annoying!
