I got sim-swapped.

I could see it happening but couldn’t get a human to speak to at Vodacon to stop it.

They then reset my WhatsApp with the sms.

I’ve had to block all my banking until I can get my own number back (which takes 48hrs to reverse, but only 2hrs to steal)

Customer “convenience” is more important to them than security and identity theft.

What secure sims are available in South Africa?

How did they manage the swap? Did you respond to a one-time pin request?

Got a sms and phoned support, but couldn’t get hold of a human to report it in time! In less than 3hrs the sim was swapped and they reset my WhatsApp to try scam through that. Luckily I put an extra pin verification on WhatsApp after the exact same thing happened to a family member.
