I think it's just politically motivated. I think people perceive the end of fact checking as something that means Zuck/Meta are sympathetic to the trump admin.

I don't think it's anything other than identity politics.

Do people care about facts and fact checkers? I really think people want the facts to be twisted to their personal political bias.
