There’s always exceptions to the rule. Sometimes I see beauty in brutalist architecture, especially certain elements. But most of the time I see cost efficiency. Brutalist architecture seem largely dependant on a high time preference.

I’ve never been a fan of brutalist but some of it is interesting. Second to last picture I think has some redeeming qualities, though I wouldn’t choose it myself.
Second to last looks sturdy, like an imprenetable above ground bunker.
It’s well executed and it’ll last for many centuries. Much more impressive than a lot of modern fiat architecture / construction.
Fiat architecture is in my opinion the worst (aesthetically) and will be the least enduring era of buildings ever made. Some of the skyscrapers are interesting and soundly constructed but the average apartment building built in past few decades is an abomination visually. The average fiat houses built in 90s and 2000s are visibly degraded after just a couple decades in my region.
Can’t wait to see sound money architecture and construction make a comeback.
