This is the first I've come across that wasn't solved 🎉. Love these and glad she's back.
This is my first time seeing nostr:npub1e063chr7ypuqwsrxaq0q0h8gdghdvxm6l0u9pwga4vyfysram3ksrhskch's account and I LOVE IT!
I grew up in mainstream education with severe-to-profound hearing loss and currently wear hearing aids since the age of 2. My community had very little to no ASL integration so my family felt it was best for me to learn listening & spoken language so I wouldn’t feel isolated.
Though I understand cases like that tend to lead towards negative experiences for those who are deaf & hard-of-hearing at a young age being forced to learn a language whilst in a disadvantaged circumstance.
In my case, I was surprisingly proficient at it due to my ability to read lips well. Therefore, my need to learn ASL was push to the back-burner and I never got to absorb the language. Today I’m slowly integrating ASL into my daily driver and this is a great addition to my ASL learning toolbox 🥹 🤟🏻
If you got this far reading my story, thank you for coming to my Ted Talk.
I wish I had learned more than the alphabet, but I'm proud that I remember something I learned in elementary school. Nostr is such a wild place and the learning opportunities are seemingly endless!
Heck yeah! Agreed 1000% 🫂
All it takes is a step forward into different circles of life & gain bits of knowledge from the experiences we share. So glad Nostr helps bridge all of us purples nostriches together one note at a time 🥳
