I remember when I was 5 and spent a summer in Poland during this era. Krakow had no meat available at all when we were there due to rationing. I kept bugging my mom that I was hungry and wanted meat and not just a little bread and potatoes. Mom would tell me later it was heartbreaking seeing me like that.

I also remember grocery stores being empty. Like maybe a few boxes of dry food in an entire aisle.

Whenever you see someone talking about Communism just let them talk to me or anyone in my family. I tasted it for a summer as a child, I can't imagine living an entire life like that.
