No, surely knowing the destination upfront is just how a payment works.
wouldn’t tracing be following the movement of the payment after it’s sent…so being able to see where it goes after the receiver.

the point he wants to make is that on LN, invoices are paid without the payer knowing where the money is going.
which is cool and all, hes just trying to oversell it.
as you say, "tracing" implies more than one hop and revealing some information that is hidden
which he absolutely knows and is why he wants to use the word.
