"Why aren't you a liberal anymore?"

Is a question I get sometimes from people who have known me a long time. For me, the war in Iraq painted the world into two clearly delineated camps: you were a liberal who was anti war or a conservative who reveled in bloodshed.

The answer I give, if I even bother to give an answer, is that owning property (bitcoin) changed my frame of reference and I now see both liberals and conservatives as being profiteers who use the system as a bludgeon to extract wealth from the citizenry. Always in the name of progress, fairness, justice, freedom, or whatever other label will score them points with their base. The results is always the opposite - regression, unfairness, injustice, and tyranny.

I like FA Hayek’s discussion about American liberalism and how notably anti liberal it is.

I’m rethinking EVERYTHING these days. Except the desire for wide spread liberty and justice 😌

In spanish we have a say for when people change their minds and defends relentlessly the newly adopted ideas. "La fé del converso".

It thakes a lot of humility for deep changes in how we see thinks in the world 🤔🧉

Mi respects for those who can do it 🫡
