Alright, I'm just going to create an entirely new post just to avoid last night's data loss. First things first, special thanks to @digikomori @Emanuel @PaulTaylor @stoodder and @utxo for their zaps. Thanks to the rest of you for your thoughts, kind comments, likes, etc.
I've only just discovered #nostr and my account is still in the newborn stage: I didn't expect this kind of reaction from complete strangers, it makes me realize that not everyone is just out trying to min-max their interactions. I don't have the knowledge, skills, or emotional capital this week to track exactly who did what donation. There is still much for me to learn about the technical capabilities and details of Nostr.
This week I'm going to talk to my HR department and staff nurse to see if we can set up some sort of employee support group, and create a better list of resources that our first responder group has access to. What can we offer more than words?
Personally and more specifically I'm going to see if my company will be willing to fund some more external programs to help employees get better access to the natural world. I live very close to a public kyack launch and I have a shed. I'm going to offer free storage and active training to coworkers interested in guiding others into discovering the joy and feelings of natural interconnectedness that comes when you get away from normal life and out into the "wild".
Long term I'm going to start exploring potentially establishing a non-profit organization that will give people access to equipment and knowledge that normally isn't readily available to people who live paycheck to paycheck. I think I expressed this all so much better in my "lost post", but I won't let that keep me down: Minor setbacks will not deter me.
Ok. I'm looking for advice on everything. General thoughts, encouragement, and answers to some more specific questions:
I'm located in Wisconsin, any existing programs and resources you're aware of that I should know about?
Pitfalls and traps I need to avoid or be conscious of.
Non-profits.. should I try to start one... how do you even go about it... other alternatives?
Legal advice.
The Unknown Unknown: Things I don't even know about that I should be worried about - What am I completely ignorant and unaware of?
Encouragement and cheerleading would be welcome, I really want to figure this out and try to make a difference. I can be sad and depressed about things or I can try to make it better. "Do or do not, there is no try"
