nostr:npub1s05p3ha7en49dv8429tkk07nnfa9pcwczkf5x5qrdraqshxdje9sq6eyhe would you be willing to share your thoughts on the current debate around the PR to remove the OP_RETURN limit, and whether you support the PR or not?

Thanks in advance 🙏

I’m personally in the ossify camp and like what Ocean is doing. I also don’t like some of the personal attacks. It’s hard to imagine that just because someone is a core developer that they would understand economics, incentives, quantum, etc etc so it would be a difficult position to be in. The entire process of consensus though is also showing what happens when you try to shut down debate. The free market responds and makes the protocol more resilient in doing so.

Thanks for responding, really appreciate your thoughts. I also like what Ocean is doing, I consider it pretty much essential to work on decentralizing mining and empowering individual miners for bitcoin to survive and thrive.

And yes, I agree the core devs can’t know ‘everything’ and are in a difficult position (for a number of reasons), yet that makes it all the harder to understand their actions, especially recently.

I love your last point and it is truly incredible to watch it all play out. So many people have been on a fast-track of learning this past week about bitcoin ‘governance’ and rough consensus, why filters are so important, the difference between relay policy and consensus policy etc,

and along with so many switching to Knots yes, the network is growing more resilient! 😊

Side note: I recently listened to your pod with Daniel and as always enjoyed every minute, thank you!

🧡💜🙏

And the Ocean guys all ring the alarm bell so it’s time to pay attention ⏰
