Honest to god, I scroll through Nostr, and I think to myself,

“Wow, thoughtful unique posts from accounts and people that I care about. I feel good reading through my feed and feel like that was worthwhile.”

All other forms of social media will be destroyed by this—it’s just too damn good versus the abusive eyeball catching, click driving modules that are absolutely broke and hate you.

Good. I cannot wait to watch those shitheaps burn. nostr:note18jwr2093rxtyx5n3y6uflymvcpl3pchsy7l8l7h3jumzws28khks2e9arn

Lucky to have this place

Agreed. And yet I spend significantly more time on X? Network effects are a bitch

It’s hypnosis and brain-cycles. It’s the same reason I want a cigarette even though they taste like shit, give me a headache, and when I finish I think, “I didn’t even like that..”

It’s a form of emotional abuse.

Give it time.

I believe many think this way as well but quieting addiction - which is what Twitter is - requires a catalyst. People having the same experience as you will come around. Slowly, but it’ll happen.

I took some time off twitter. I tried going back, but it feels like a chore.

It’s always better here, and going back there afterward feels like failure.

Agreed.

One of the odd benefits of living in Shanghai was that Twitter wasn't an easy option. Great Firewall and all that. Fortunate in a way I suppose.

Made it a point though to figure out a way to be on Nostr and it has been (thus far) a very rewarding experience.

I love hearing stories like this. Thank you for sharing.

Oh, I’ve a lot of #China related stories. Glad you enjoyed this one.

Just saw this lol but spot on

I wonder if this isn't a matter of social network but amount of (problematic) ppl. I've seen the fediverse change that way. Fediverse still has good ppl, but include the wrong ones and you completely lose the vibe that was there only a few years ago.

Yep, this will be a big part of it, and will likely be how we get a bunch of sub-nostrs that will cater to all kinds of different tastes and people. One big social network doesn’t make much sense unless it’s loosely federated.

But then the problem becomes how to maintain or recapture this vibe. This seems to be an unresolved problem.
