I believe their thought process relies heavily on mental gymnastics and cognitive dissonance. They want to "return to the old days" but can't seem to understand that there is/are several groups of people who are stopping that. There is a cause and an effect for all things. Rather than admit they've been played, they sit there and pass the responsibility to save themselves on to some ephemeral force (Q and the patriots in control) based on divination charts and thought terminating nonsense that they can twist in to another dose of hopium. It's hard to admit there's a problem - it's even harder to admit that you have to be the solution.
