yeah, i wanted to go there in 1995 and started to sometimes use it after 1999 and after Source engine got ported to linux and Valve started actively supporting linux the only blocker for me was finished with - windows was just a way for me to make money (fixing it) and so from about 2008 i started to routinely run ubuntu and from 2016 i completely stopped using windows for very much at all, as i became a systems programmer and windows shells and filesystems and kernel and system libraries are total garbage compared to the fully posix compliant linux
about the only thing i would say now is i want to run a BSD kernel but getting new hardware to play nice is a nightmare
i would bet that by 2030 bsd kernels will replace linux kernel also, but probably some new variant that has only been around for a few years so far - android points towards this - it is a heavily cut down linux kernel with much of the complexity excised, it's really just a matter of time before someone marries a bsd kernel to the android design i think
