wow, I forgot MMS used to be a thing

funny story: I used to work at Telefonica R&D in the early 2000s (I think like 2004 or so) and I worked on some of the projects handling the network traffic for data delivery

The machines handling this had ASIC-like components and would route entire countries' data with a couple machines and a couple failover nodes.

Pretty insane.

Yea unfortunately still someone can still send regular message and attach today hence I block MMS. Rare only from some 1-800 spammers sometimes smhh

Haha siphoning everything with just a couple machines, sounds nuts. I know if only majority ppl knew right 🀯. Today we know cuz Snowden told us πŸ™ phewww

πŸ˜‚ 100%

these machines were beasts though; it was insane

one of the projects I did was changed *something* I can't recall what it was really, but it was modifying the behavior of one of the utility functions these things had

because it was all closed source but they were linux boxes I modified the kernel of the device to change the user space slightly; it was wildly fun πŸ˜‚

😲 sounds insane. No wonder why your brain clicks the way it does, experienced. Been around. Nice. Keep doing whatever you're doing πŸ‘

πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

Playing with the Linux kernel was always so much fun and taught me so much about computers and coding

Regardless of what #[4] might say… πŸ˜‚

Nostalgia overload. I fondly remember the days of helping Alan Cox test the early SMP Linux kernels back in the mid 90s

Whoooooa, you worked with Alan Cox???!

In a virtual sense I guess, much the same way geographically distant devs work together today. But yeah, the community was pretty small and there weren’t many people that had multiprocessor machines that were prepared to test and run Linux.

Your comment got me thinking about who I’ve worked with over the years. I guess I’ve been really fortunate to have worked with some pretty legendary computer scientists. Sometimes we take things or people for granted, and shouldn’t.

OG, 2000s πŸ˜…pheww, you looked pretty young in your Nostrica youtube vids though πŸ‹οΈβ€β™‚οΈπŸƒβ€β™‚οΈπŸ’ͺ

πŸ˜‚

I'm not that young πŸ˜‚

I don't have a phone number. That solves the spam problem :)

Haha yup that would do it. I do have separate WiFi only phone I like to enjoy in between
