After all, going back to a gold standard and ditching fractional reserve banking achieves many of the goals of Bitcoin. For people like me who can't buy Bitcoin, going back to that is the only real solution unless KYC is eliminated or severely restricted, so I'm okay with the USD remaining alongside BTC.

Why can't you buy it?

If KYC is the problem you should check out kycnot.me , it lists multiple Decentralized exchanges like Bisq where you can buy Bitcoin with cash, and without KYC.

You can mine cryptos, and use swapping services, or atomic swaps too.
