Let’s have a #nostr family chat

We’ve got to keep driving mainstream adoption for nostr. No, I don’t have answers right now other than we need more people, diverse communities and content, or all these good technological and social media advances don’t mean a thing.

I’ll be here and keep using nostr no matter what, but we’re not winning any arguments about why people should use nostr outside of “censorship, it’s better, etc” and I just wrote a damn article on this so I feel this 100%!

Could you please post you article in Nostr? Thanks!

Excellent. Look, it's a challenge to know why people don't fall in love with Nostr's selling points at first. sometimes I think they want to be controlled, or rather, they like a central power to control the others (and that's why they accept control). they also enjoy society's superficial discussions and polemics, which Nostr doesn't have in abundance. so difficult to sell Nostr, it is to sell the idea of Bitcoin. people are afraid of freedom. strange huh? but that's what most of my close people are. kinda cowards. But as you say in your article. Nostr is the essence of the social network. and we have to maintain because today 200-300 thousand users. but 8 billion people could depend on such a platform. they just don't know it yet.

Agreed! People close to me know that I’m not big on social media but know they see me engaged on nostr and trying to explain them to join. It’ll take time but I'm convinced by keep explaining how cool nostr is and them realizing that social media can be fun again the user count will grow.

And as a bonus, you can earn money! INSANE!🤯🤪

Private censorship and shakedowns (Elon, Mark, looking at you) are much more dystopian than what the ancaps are afraid of. I wanted to root for Mastodon but it’s just all day of folks dissecting if you’re pronouncing “shibboleth” correctly.
