Rant:

3 years ago I loaned a book to a friend. We touched base about it when I moved, as I wanted to make sure they still had it. They did.

They said they hadn’t read it yet, and I was like… No worries. I’ll probably need it back soon, but go ahead and get started on it.

Annoyed me that they had my book for that long and didn’t bother to even read it.

About 6 weeks ago I sent a message: Hey girl! I need to get that book from you, let me know when you’re free to come by.

Oh that’s right, I’m SO SORRY I’ve had it so long.

That’s it. Crickets. Just sent another message: Just checking in on this!

I’m resentful. This is annoying. I’d just get another copy but this book cost $75.

New Rule: Either give the book away entirely or don’t bother.

Im a dragon with my books now a days. I hord and enjoy I dont lend anymore for almost this exact reason.

I never lend anything for this very reason. Always give with the assumptions its never getting returned, and occasionally you get surprised.

Don't lend, just gift

I didn’t want to gift it. I won’t be lending anymore.

Me concernant je finis à offrir et en rachète la plupart du temps 🤣

You need friends that respect your property 🤷‍♂️

Definitely this is disrespectful. 💯

Good call. Someday I have to recover a $1,000 telescope that’s probably been disused.

I stopped giving away things to other people, to complicated and time consuming

now I am curious: which book?
