What is the point , ultimatley, of social media ?
When I first started using social media , it was yonks ago , I don't know if anyone has ever heard of Bebo , man that was a laugh back in the day, Bebo stunnazh and all that.
The big thing with Bebo is that you customised the little page you had and it kind of said something about you. There was a "wall" , where people made a sort of Microsoft Paint drawing and posted it to the "wall" where all the drawings that people had made formed a collage.
MySpace seemed more or less the same thing , and I began using that as well , although it wasn't as common for Irish people to use it , it was more of an American thing.
The main idea seemed to be the customization of the page though , and you could embed videos using html and mess about with the css and stuff on MySpace if I'm remembering correctly.
Then Facebook and Twitter started to phase those things out , and everything took on a more serious tone .
Social media wasn't about just goofing around , it was about very serious opinions and networking and all of that bollox.
I never really vibed with any of that shite , and so I stopped using social media for years, until I heard about Nostr , because I heard that they were using Bitcoin , and that just seemed mad to me ( not a mad idea , but just that something so cool was being done ) , and now my perception of it has shifted again , and so I don't really know what the point of it is anymore .
I know Nostr is the shit though , tell you that much .
