correct, phoenix is actually a lightning wallet whereas aqua uses boltz under the hood to perform liquid to lightning (or vice-versa) swaps.

only caveat to phoenix is if on chain fees are high when opening / splicing a channel, you might get dinged. but once your channel is up and running, nothing beats it IMO

They are different wallet types. Self custodial vs. custodial. You pay a price for that.

I think Aqua really shines when it comes to accepting/using tether & liquid.

The fact that you can send & receive lightning on it is useful.

I don't have a big use for it right now but I can see it being really useful in the future.

I'm using it as an L1 hot wallet (smallish amounts) right now. You never know when someone wants payment on the base layer.

For self custodial lightning Phoenix just has stunningly good UX.
