Australians now face digital ID checks and biometric scans to login to online platforms, all under the premise of protecting under-16s.

Kids are now banned from select social media platforms but adults are the ones handing over their faces, IDs, and biometrics to prove they're not kids.

Mission accomplished: they've turned "protecting children" into a universal surveillance upgrade for everyone.

The UK, the EU, and various US states are also looking to implement online ID verification.

Odd that messenger and WhatsApp ("private" posts) are exempt, but FB/Insta/Threads (public posts) aren't. All are Meta

Meta helped draft the laws.

I believe that they want to make Instagram into an over 18s site eventually anyway.

And nobody under 25 is using Facebook.

But messager and WhatsApp are how perverts get in contact with children.

They are more dangerous than any of the banned apps.

Sportsbet and Pornhub also got exemptions despite their apps fitting the governments definition of social media (being able to make public comments, algorithmic feeds, etc.
