Like most birds you can hear them rather than see them..... Well this one is particularly loud and haunting.
I feel strangely at home when I hear the noise a Bush Stone Curlew makes.
Used to be prolific in grasslands throughout the country, now rarely heard due to loss of habitat and ground breeding habits.

They camouflage well, but not to foxes or cats.
Do you love the sound they make?
I barely notice it now.
It was a wierd sound to hear at first though. It echoes around the valley here.
