TIL in hashing there is something called a collision. And SHA 256 is no exception.

Altough the probability of collision happen within 1000 years of bitcoin lifetime is infinitesinlmally small. It's not 0 either

If collisions happen, it will surely be a disaster.

But how big of a disaster could it be?

1. Can collision produce additional bitcoin? Or entirely remove bitcoin from existence?

2. Can collision mess with the entire historical blocks? Hence fucked everyone

Altough, if collision happen, we should be able to know it right? Since people will notice as the transaction happened didn't make sense on the collision block.

Can we then somehow redo the mining of that block?
