So satoshi and bitcoin are different things?
No, satoshi is the pen name of the anonymous creator of bitcoin. There are 100 million satoshis in one bitcoin so the smallest unit of bitcoin is called a satoshi. Often called sats. People zap each other sats via the lightning network zapping each other fractions of a cent as a gift.
