Why don't you put pineapple in Samosas? Or pickles and BBQ sauce on Birani? Cultural misappropriation/racist to mess with that cuisine?
"Italians can take it". Always have been able to. Imagine other cultures had started migrating when Italians first started. How would their frailty be able to handle it while literally building most of the West's infrastructure? Working like pigs while they're culture is thrown into a garbage disposal.
Being from a country with a majority of Italian and Spanish immigration, I understand you perfectly. But culture is still alive friend beyond passing fads.
