The point of using it isn't to have full privacy, but it increases privacy by making parallel construction harder.

I have no idea if recent Firefox changes will make it worse, though.

Tor project has made lots of changes to their version of Firefox to fix issues in the past, it's not all the same as vanilla Firefox.
