Why would the treasury secretary ever need to be sent to meet a country’s top brass?

That’s the job of the State Department and it’s diplomatic corps.

Either scenario makes no sense. She’s there because the US elite’s money laundering machine is in serious trouble.

When I read that last sentence back even that doesn’t make sense. There is no reason for her to be there at all.
