I just listened to a talk where someone defended North Korea. Here’s a summary:
- North Korea isn’t close friends with China or Russia.
- North Korea ended starvation issues in the 90s.
- North Koreans have internet access without HTTPS and better lives than reported.
- North Korea has one of the best hacking unit in the world.
- North Korea has fewer than three real defectors each year.
- North Korea built a wall between China and its own territory because they want to stop people from escaping.
I simply asked: If their lives are so much better than the media says, why build a wall to keep people from escaping to China, which is supposed to be an ally?
He answered: "How about you don't talk about something you don't understand"

The only thing I could find was the hacker claim, which I had already heard about within the industry. I couldn’t find any sources for anything else he said, not even in the most schizo commie communities I have access to. My guess is he read it somewhere on Xitter or the Fediverse, or he just made it up himself.
