I’ve read a lot of George Selgin’s stuff. Difficult reading but one of the most lucid thinkers about money. Here he is weighing in on the MMT debate, where he makes the statement that it’s not so much about money, it’s amount the command and control of scarce resources. How as a government do you do that? You control the medium with which real resource are exchanged. That includes creating this medium out of thin air, which is used by government to spend for these scarce resources.
