Columbus was set out in quest of India .. he landed in America .. the man was so obsessed that he called American natives - Indians :-)
But it happened once again - in 2008 / 09 ..
#Satoshi was set out to discover peer to peer electronic cash .. in her pursuits of excellence (econ, math , crypto and C ) , she ended up finding digital form of #gold !
... but so obsessed was she that she named it #bitcoin .. just like Columbus did - to Indians :-)
To be fair - what she discovered was the first commodity mined in digital space ..
But she wanted the first one so good that she manifested properties of #gold in it ..
A permissionless and decentralised protocol over open codebase .. to run an immutable ledger .... that is lot of jargon - what it means is ... Simply ..
Anyone may participate and it could never be stopped .. that is where the word "censor resistance" came into being .. well .. found it's true meaning ..
Tuned out those were the very properties of gold .. immutable ( never degenerates) , permissions less ( no KYC) , and decentralised ( you can dig a pit anywhere :-) ..
