#Stanley #Kubrick was so impressed by R. Lee Ermey that he scrapped written dialogue and let him improvise — unheard of for a Kubrick film.
Most scenes took 2–3 takes. Only The “jelly doughnut” scene took 37 takes until Ermey’s voice started giving out.
