You know.. I've been talking about this topic with several people, and I've came to notice that the most effective countraceptive is hoplessness about the future.

Even talking from the POV of a severely economically impaired country, is not that people are strugling to survive or uncertain about the future and thus not willing to bring more people in it.

Is the certainty that "today you are better than tomorrow" what is discouraging people to bring babies to the world. πŸ€”πŸ˜”

Hopelessness really kills the sex drive

Yep, or if it doesnn't at minimum it destroys the idea of forming a family.

It seems like now, at least here an overwelming mayority of girls between 25 to 30-something, are not even thinking about that πŸ€”. I don't know if in other places is like that.

I was just reading an article today about the mating gap. More women respond with being ready but unable to find the right partner. The article basically said for various reasons men are less willing and/or able to have kids when a woman is ready.

Anecdotally, I see a lot of 2X yr-old ladies’ dating profiles say they do not want kids

I’d like to see the article, too; it sounds like it reflects my own experience.

Women who want careers often get blamed for the lower birth rate, but as someone who was seriously open to finding my future husband since I was quite young, that never seemed like the whole story. I only waited as long as I did to start a family because it actually took that long to find him.
