Certain foods combine really well with others, as if they were made for each other. Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall gives a bunch of examples in his Three Good Things (book, TV show, etc). I just found one by accident:

Lamb, Pumpkin and Garlic (with loads of salt) - Holy crap this tastes way better than I expected. I'm used to Lamb, Rosemary and Garlic. But Pumpkin adds a sweetness that makes the lamb taste totally divine... and the garlic goes so well with that sweetness, as well as directly with the lamb.

Strictly speaking I used lamb, salt, pepper, olive oil, potatoes and pumpkin. I've been eating my own home-raised sheep for about 10 years, and this is the best I've had yet.

When I say pumpkin, I actually meant buttercup squash.
