Never understood the point of using a nym when your planning to go to in person meetups...
Wouldn't be hard for whoever your hiding from to find you...
They simply show up to the event.
Idk. Confusing. I see it better to just be yourself. 🤷
I’ve gone back and forth on this a bit.
For me, I’ve settled on a middle ground. Retaining a bit of privacy so that I have the freedom to choose when and to whom I share my face/identity.
For sure, a 3-letter agency could run me through facial recognition for an ID in seconds, but I’m not trying to “hide” and I don’t need to put in the level of effort it takes to stay completely private from someone with those resources to de-anonymize me, considering I’m not worried about whether or not “they” know who I am.
But for a video thumbnail circulating the internet, I want a bit of privacy and freedom to choose which friends and coworkers (or AI-driven employment analysis software) sees my face in various social or professional settings.
It’s different for everyone, though 🤝
