How to not trust but verify computer hardware? The large number of mini pc type hardware that is often "no name" but cheap might be an example. So for instance, especially if we are running nodes, shouldn't we be able to consult a trusted "tester" or ideally be able to test ourselves whether the hardware we have doesn't contain any malicious elements. Interested to hear thoughts but as is usually the case, the one person who clicks me a like, will likely be the only feedback I get on this.....so I'll just ponder it myself and research. 😅😜

I think we just assume that all commodity hardware is compromised now or later. Gotta use whats available but its on the worry about list.
Yes, I kinda agree. I remember hearing a conversation with one of the Start9 guys that touched on this issue. His view was, I think, that generally software can be, and is, regularly scrutinised but hardware is often taken for granted as being not something that is looked at in that way. I have this scenario in my mind whereby hardware, that manufacturers/assemblers have caught wind is popular with bitcoiners for running nodes, gets inserted with some hardware component that in some way provides a malicious "in" to the setup.
A hardware backdoor.
🤔
I depend on people like you as I have zero knowledge on this. Keep pondering. Maybe a rating system like some of the charity rating services or car reliability sites?
Maybe see if i can get nostr:npub1j87rgjtftxaux3xd5nhthwavm3907ywnu8x0z0uywqntsv57vajshl3hzx to share any thoughts he might have.
